"THE DAY OF THE DEAD IN ART"
CENTRO DE ARTES - San Antonio, TEXAS
10/24/2019 - 1/25/2020
"I am proud to have Centro de Artes showcase two exhibitions on Day of the Dead, a much-loved but often misunderstood holiday...it is of great importance to shed light and provide insight into how the holiday is celebrated in Mexico and in the US by Chicanos who have embraced this holiday as a way to reconnect with their ancestors, family legacies and identity.” --Yadhira Lozano, Chair of Centro de Artes Committee of the San Antonio Arts Commission
The Day of the Dead in Art, curated by Dr. Ruben Cordova, an art historian and curator who has researched Day of the Dead in Mexico and the U.S. for more than 30 years. The exhibition explores Day of the Dead as a social art practice through over 100 art objects made by more than 50 artists, most of whom are Mexican or Chicano.

"Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in Americas, Alien Skins"
Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art (SoHo)- New York, NY
5/7/2019 - 6/24/2019
"Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in the Americas brings together contemporary artists from across the Americas who have tapped into science fiction’s capacity to imagine new realities, both utopian and dystopian. Science fiction offers a unique artistic landscape in which to explore the colonial enterprise that shaped the Americas and to present alternative perspectives speculating on the past and the future...artists employ the imagery of science fiction to suggest diverse modes of existence and represent “alienating” ways of being in the world. The exhibition offers a groundbreaking account of the intersections among science fiction, techno-culture, and the visual arts."
